My Weekend

I have been missing again for a few days - here is the story. Friday morning "The Baby" called to let me know that she had been suffering with stomach pains all night long. At one point she thought she was going to be sick and went down the hall to the bathroom. Luckily, she was not sick, but on the way back to her room, she felt the blood rush from her head and broke out in a cold sweat. Thinking she was going to pass out, she laid on the floor in the hallway to try to recover. A couple students came out of their rooms (or possibly they were just getting home - you know college kids), and asked if she needed help, my stubborn baby said no and proceeded to drag herself back to her room. I was a bit upset that she didn't call me while the situation was going on, but decided to discuss (read - lecture) that with her later. I got in the shower and jumped in the car and was off to the rescue. I didn't let her know I was coming because I knew she would try to talk me out of it. (I am not sure why, after 18 years, she has not figured out that I am the original stubborn one in this family. No one can convince me to do anything different when I have my mind set.)

She really looked bad when I picked her up. My heart broke to see her feel that bad. I got a quick lunch for her and we were off. She said she felt much better than last night, so I asked if I could drop by a quilt shop I had just found out about. Looking back, I feel like a crappy Mom. Here she is sick, me rushing off to get her and I am thinking about material!! Oh well, what is done is done. The quilt shop was wonderful and huge! I picked up a couple floral prints for my pinwheel quilt.

The Baby slept all the way home (2 hour ride), crawled into her bed and slept till dinner and then went back to bed after dinner. I had to get her back to school around 12 noon on Sunday. She is doing better for the most part. She has had reflux since she was a baby and it is worse when she is under stress. Finals are around the corner and she is a bit of a perfectionist (don't know where she got that from), she expects more from herself than anyone else and she pushes herself really hard sometimes. I worry about her, but I know that she will learn to deal with the stress and become a better person for it. A Mom's gotta worry though.

Pin It Now!

I would have gone to get mine too. As old as our girls are, one even being a mom, they still call me when they're sick, to at least get a verbal hug. I am more than happy to deliver.

Totally understand how you feel. Sometimes even though they're getting older you just have to be a Mum.

Sounds like she appreciated it and it made you feel better too.
