Hello There

Hello all, hope you had a great weekend and a good Monday. My weekend was really nice. Big had to get a hair cut on Saturday and after that we did some shopping. Sunday was a quiet day.

I am working on a table topper for fall. I spent part of Sunday cutting the leaves. This table topper will be my first attempt at machine applique. I used some Batik for the leaves. I think they came out nice. I have never used satin stitch and am a little nervous. I plan on doing some practice work first.

I participated in a Halloween Tote swap recently. I showed the tote I sent to my partner a few posts ago. Here is what I received! I just love all of it! The inside of the bag is lined with a shiny cat and moon print. I think the tote could be reversible.

It has been a week since my last photo of the trees in my front yard. The colors are really beginning to change. The photo is dark. We have been having a lot of rain the past couple of days. It has been freaking cold also. Highs in the upper 50's!

Well, I am off to teach myself satin stitch! It is probably a good thing I am the only one home - could be a lot of bad words flying around!
Pin It Now!

Hey, Cynthia. Love the woods around your house. Remember to use a stabilizer when you satin stitch. I use plain scrap paper and just sew through the fabric and paper both. If you don't, the thread tension will cause the fabric to crinkle inside the lines of stitches (between the zig and the zag); most unsightly. But, the paper stabilizer keeps everything nice and flat. Love the batik for the leaves Cynthia. I think this will look gorgeous.

Lovely tote from your swap partner too!

Enjoy fall. I wore a T shirt to work yesterday. Spring is here!

Ooh, your table-topper is going to be so pretty! Good luck with the satin stitch. I bet it won't take much practice before you're on to it.

What a cute tote!

You certainly live in a beautiful locale.

Hi Cynthia, I love the batik colours you have chosen for the leaves. I was going to suggest the same as Lane, make sure you put something behind, like tracing paper. Also I always use the same colour in the bobbin as on top so no unsightly bobbin thread comes through. Hope it works out well for you. Regards

I love your leaf table mat - I'd probably do a blanket stitch on it because that's my favorite stitch. :) blessings, marlene
