Mrs. P over at Quilting in My Pyjamas, is attempting to clean out her freezers and save some money in the process. She invited all her readers to join her challenge. I decided to play along and see if I could save about $100.00 during the month of February. My usual budget for the month is $400.00, this includes shampoo, toilet paper, etc.
I thought I would start by taking a photo of my freezers. I have two, but both are attached to a refrigerator. They are pretty full. I could probably go a few weeks without purchasing too much.
I usually make a menu for two weeks, so this part of the challenge was easy. Here is my menu for one week.
Monday - Grilled Pork Chops, Baked Potatoes, Green Beans
Tuesday - Asparagus Frittata, Artisan Bread
Wednesday - Turkey Burgers, Tater Tots, Corn on the Cobb
Thursday - Thanksgiving Dinner in a Dish
Friday - Eat Out - We will be on the road to get The Baby for the weekend
Saturday - Calzones (using the Artisan Bread recipe)
Sunday - Chili (this will go in the crock pot) Corn Bread
I have everything I need to prepare all the dishes for the week.
I have not posted breakfast or lunches. Breakfast is usually eggs or cereal for Big (she eats them at work) and I usually eat oatmeal. Big has leftovers for lunch and I usually have soup or cheese and crackers.
Yummm...tonight's dinner!
We are getting rain for the next couple of days. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those who are in this horrible storm.
Take care!

Cool idea! Good luck! I don't think it would work for me though. I have a couple bags of frozen veggies and some vegan ice cream in my freezer....lol.
What is Thanksgiving Dinner in a Dish?
I have just discovered a love for asparagus and am eating it all the time.
I think decreasing your shopping bill by 25% is a very achievable goal. Cant wait to see how you go!
Hey Cynthia
We've been working on using up what's in the freezer this month, and though I've not kept track of exact amounts, it's helped alot. I guess I tend to accumulate more than fabric and projects.
The food looks yummy, btw. And I don't know what Thanksgiving in a dish is, but it sounds good.
Linda
A saving of $100 on food for the month sounds good to me, and hmmm, that's a lot of fabric, lol!!!!
I'm the third person that doesn't know what Thanksgiving Dinner In a Dish is so you are going to have to do a post on that!
I love Artisan Bread, I used to make it all the time, but then I ate too much of it and put on weight so I don't make it as much anymore.
